Charlotte Smyrl is a qualified Carbon Management specialist with a wealth of experience. She is a Full Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (MIEMA) and a Chartered Environmentalist (C.Env)  with an undergraduate degree in Law (LLB Hons).

Charlotte founded Simply Carbon Reduction to share her skills and expertise with organisations in implementing sustainable business practices, reducing costs and transitioning towards a Net Zero future. Her understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by private and public sector organisations in rural and urban areas enable her to consistently deliver outstanding results.​

As Head of European Regulatory Compliance for Tyco Fire Products, Charlotte managed numerous compliance programmes​​​, product introduction and rationalisation projects to increase market share and minimise costs. Her cross-discipline Operational Excellence team achieved remarkable results, including a 58% reduction in gas consumption and a 50% reduction in waste to landfill, establishing an environmental baseline for the multi-national organisation. With a proven track record, Charlotte pivoted her career to specialise in environmental management.

Charlotte was the first Carbon Reduction Advisor for the Lake District National Park Authority, leading their Carbon Management Programme and achieving a 39% cut in absolute Greenhouse Gas emissions across a diverse fleet and property portfolio. Her award-winning project gained the Carbon Trust Standard and was the basis of numerous best practice case studies for organisations like the Carbon Trust and Energy Saving Trust​.​
